Research Internship

Application

Description

Wordswell’s action research internship is for senior high-school and post-secondary students who are serving as animators. It aims to help participants in their spiritual and intellectual growth and to build their capacity to contribute to the advancement and wellbeing of their communities.

Interns are assisted by a supervisor and a mentor to formulate a research question, generally related to helping youth live a coherent life, and to carry out a line of action-research in the community.

Interns participate a course of study in our tutorial center that aims to strengthen intellectual development and to support their research. They also work in the tutorial center, often by helping to tutor younger youth. The tutorial center can serve as a site for their action-research.

Commitment

This is an 11 month paid internship and requires a commitment of 7 hours a week, although the number of hours each week may vary somewhat week-to-week and will be worked out in consultation with the mentor. This time is used for tutoring, study, research and reflection with a mentor. In addition, each mentor is asked to prepare a brief written reflection at the end of each month and to participate in 3 reflection meetings over the course of the internship.
