Tutorial Learning

Wordswell works to enhance the intellectual abilities of young people as they enter middle school and continue through their high school studies. Our efforts complement the school curriculum with a particular focus on language and mathematics, areas foundational to both academic success and meaningful participation in community life.

What We Offer

We provide sustained tutorial assistance to middle‑ and high‑school students, offering support that goes beyond homework help.

Tutors work with students to deepen their understanding of core concepts, build essential skills, and develop attitudes and habits of disciplined effort required for long‑term academic growth. Students are paired with a consistent tutor, allowing for personalized attention, trust, and continuity. Each student is followed closely, monitoring progress, identifying gaps in understanding, and collaborating with parents through regular home visits.

A Different Kind of Tutoring

Years of experience have shown that meaningful educational progress requires more than the completion of assignments.

Wordswell’s approach emphasizes the joy of learning, the development of intellectual curiosity, and the cultivation of the capacity to access and apply knowledge independently. Particular attention is given to mathematics, recognizing its role in developing logical reasoning and problem‑solving abilities essential for high school success and for participation in an increasingly complex world. Language development is also central, as the ability to read, write, and communicate with clarity underpins every aspect of learning and enables young people to express insights, engage in dialogue, and contribute thoughtfully to community life.

  • “It definitely helped me in school in a positive way. When we did math in school I would be like ‘Oh I already know this cause I’ve done this with my group,’ and I would be like ‘Oh so I can do this with ease and without having to put most of my energy into it.’"

  • “To be honest, it actually helped me in school with decimals and fractions. It helped me in math and that’s good, it's a step closer to being an engineer, learning math and science. It has helped me with learning and focusing in class.”
